This year’s program will pay tribute to all who have served in our Military Forces, from the first armed resistance against the King of England on April 19, 1775 to those on active duty serving through out the world.

Re-enactors from Collier County Museum’s “Soldiers of the Past” will parde one by one as comments and historical quotations are provided by historian & Chaplin Lt. Col. Robert Hartman, U.S. Army (Ret.)

“I view this program as a significant historical retrospect of those who dedicated their service to the formation of our Country and to those who have paid the Ultimate Sacrifice.

We call on all Americans to remember soldiers who have fallen fighting for our country from this country’s War for Independence through today’s War on Terror. The United States has formally celebrated Memorial Day since May 1868. We would not know the wonderful freedoms we seem to take for granted if it were not for the sacrifices made by soldiers and their families,” said James Elson, Past President of the Collier County Veterans Council.

Collier County’s Veterans Services and Museum Departments will participate in the ceremony along with the Collier County Sheriff’s Color Guard.

Media should contact Jim Elson at (239) 434-2652 or the day of the event (cellular) (239) 860-0009.

Lunch will be provided after Ceremony by: Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens "A dignity provider"
