ROAD ALERT

 

This ROAD ALERT was prepared by the Collier County Growth Management Department to inform the community about scheduled road construction and road maintenance projects along major roadways in Collier County where lane closures are planned or traffic flow may be affected.

 

COLLIER COUNTY CONSTRUCTION/MAINTENANCE PROJECTS:

107th Avenue North between Vanderbilt Drive and 6th Street North – On 107th Avenue North between Vanderbilt Drive and 8th Street North expect intermittent lane closures, as well as times that the road will be CLOSED and traffic will be only allowed for local residents, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, over approximately eight months, as crews continue work to install sewer mains and water mains as part of the Collier County Public Utility Renewal Project. During road closures, a detour route will be posted.  Flagmen will be used as needed, as well as advance warning signs and barricades to assist travelers in this area.  

110th Avenue North between Vanderbilt Drive and US 41 – Tamiami Trail – On 110th Avenue North between Vanderbilt Drive and US 41-Tamiami trail expect intermittent lane closures, as well as intermittent road closures for approximately eight months, weather permitting, as crews continue work install sewer, storm, and water mains as part of the Collier County Public Utility Renewal Project. At times, the road will be CLOSED and traffic will be only allowed for local residents, and sometimes limited to ONE LANE ONLY.  For road closures, detour route is posted as well as, advance warning signs and barricades are being used to assist travelers in this area. For one lane travel restrictions, Flagmen, as well as advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area. 

Airport Road from Vanderbilt Beach Road to Nottingham Drive – On Airport Road from Vanderbilt Beach Road to Nottingham Drive expect crews to be working along the northbound roadside for the next two months as construction progresses on the Airport Road North of Vanderbilt Beach Road Improvements Project.  No through lane nor turn lane closures are planned over the next two months. The entire project is scheduled to be completed this fall. Motorists are advised to stay alert and drive with care.   Electronic message signs, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area. 

Collier Boulevard and Immokalee Road Intersection Improvements Project –  On Immokalee Road between Collier Boulevard and Bellaire Bay Drive expect westbound travel lanes to be reduced from three lanes to two lanes intermittently from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting, as crews widen the roadway. Bellaire Bay Drive may be used as an alternate route during this needed improvement work. This project is expected to be completed this fall. Motorists are advised to stay alert and drive with care in the construction zoneExpect Delays. Advance warning signs, along with electronic message signs, lighted arrow boards and barricades are being used to assist travelers in this area.

Collier Boulevard Improvements Project – On Collier Boulevard between Green Boulevard and Golden Gate Boulevard expect intermittent lane closures both southbound and northbound from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, for the duration of the Collier Boulevard Improvements Project which is scheduled to be completed in summer of 2017. In addition, left turns from Weber Boulevard onto ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Golden Gate Boulevard are now prohibited. Vehicles will continue to be able to make right turns. Expect intermittent lane closures OVERNIGHT from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., for approximately two months, weather permitting, as crews mill and pave roadway segments including: Collier Boulevard between 18th Avenue SW and 1st Avenue NW; Pine Ridge Boulevard between Collier Boulevard and Logan Boulevard; and Golden Gate Boulevard between Collier Boulevard and 31st Street SW. Motorists are advised to stay alert and drive with care.  The speed limit has been reduced to 35 mph on Collier Boulevard from Green Boulevard to Golden Gate Boulevard. Law enforcement officers and flagmen will be utilized, as needed, along with electronic message signs, lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades, to assist travelers in this area. 

Collier Boulevard at Mainsail Drive and at Trail Ridge Road (Wal-Mart Entrance) Intersections - On Collier Boulevard at Mainsail Drive and at Trail Ridge Road (Wal-Mart Entrance) expect intermittent lane closures continuing for approximately one month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, as crews continue traffic signal work. Lighted arrow boards, warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.

Copeland Avenue (CR 29) between Demere Lane and Oyster Bar Lane – On Copeland Avenue (CR 29) between Demere Lane and Oyster Bar Lane expect traffic to be reduced from two lanes to ONE LANE ONLY through August 2017 while construction progresses on the first phase of the Chokoloskee Bridge Replacement Project. A temporary traffic signal has been installed and will be operational 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Currently the bridge crews are working along the entire length of the bridge. Electronic message signs, advance warning signs and barricades are being used to assist travelers in this area. Drivers are reminded to stay alert and expect delays. Final completion of the replacement bridge is planned in spring 2018. 

Golden Gate Parkway between Livingston Road and 70th Street SW - On Golden Gate Parkway between Livingston Road and 70th Street SW expect westbound traffic to be reduced from three lanes to two lanes beginning on Monday, May 22 and continuing for approximately three weeks from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews construct a turn lane extension as part of the Golden Gate Parkway at Livingston Road Intersection Improvements Project that is scheduled to be completed in August. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.

Golden Gate Boulevard from east of Wilson Boulevard to west of 20th Street NE/SE – On Golden Gate Boulevard from east of Wilson Boulevard to west of 20th Street NE/SE traffic has been shifted to two newly constructed travel lanes. All vehicles are now using what will progress to be the dual eastbound travel lanes from east of Wilson Boulevard to west of 20th Street NE/SE.  Crews are now progressing with construction of the future dual westbound travel lanes. During this phase which will progress over the next three months, residents on the north side of Golden Gate Boulevard must turn right when leaving their property onto the temporary roadway. Drivers need to use the nearest side street to the west to reach the Golden Gate Boulevard travel lanes. This temporary roadway is one-way, for westbound traffic only. Residents returning home from the west need to use the side street just before their property to reach the temporary roadway. Those returning from the east need to continue to the side street just past their property (to the west) and turn onto the side street to access the temporary roadway to return home. Residents on the south side are reminded to use extra caution now that both directions of traffic have shifted to the south, closer to their driveways.  Estimated completion for the entire project is expected near the end of 2017.  Electronic message signs, advance warning signs and barricades are being used to assist travelers in this area.  Law enforcement officers will assist, as needed.  Drivers are reminded to stay alert and drive with care.

Immokalee Road between Stockade Road and Camp Keais Road- On Immokalee Road from near Stockade Road and to just south of Camp Keais Road expect traffic to be reduced from two lanes to ONE LANE ONLY beginning on Tuesday, May 23 and continuing for approximately three weeks OVERNIGHT from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting, as crews mill and pave the roadway. Flagmen, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.

Lake Trafford Road between Krystal Lane and North 18th Street (in Immokalee) – On Lake Trafford Road between Krystal Lane and North 18th Street (in Immokalee) expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures for approximately three months from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting, as crews install drainage pipes. Flagmen, advance warning signs and barricades are being used to assist travelers in this area.

SR 29 at 1st Street and 9th Street Intersections (in Immokalee) - On SR 29 at 1st Street and, at 9th Street in Immokalee, expect intermittent lane closures for approximately one month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, as crews continue traffic signal work. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.

SR 82 and Corkscrew Road Intersection – In the vicinity of the intersection of SR 82 and Corkscrew Road crews are mobilizing to construct the SR 82 at Corkscrew Road Intersection Improvement Project. Motorists are advised to stay alert and drive with care in the construction zone. The speed limit has been reduced to 50 mph in this area. The project is scheduled to be completed this fall. Advance warning signs, and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.

US 41 at Barefoot Williams Road Intersection – On US 41 and on Barefoot Williams Road expect intermittent lane closures for approximately one month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, as crews continue traffic signal work. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.

Vanderbilt Drive between 104th Avenue N. and Bluebill Avenue/111th Avenue N. On Vanderbilt Drive between 104th Avenue N. and Bluebill Avenue/111th Avenue N. expect the roadway to be CLOSED TO ALL TRAFFIC for approximately two months, weather permitting, as utility crews install new gravity sewer and force mains. A detour route is posted as well as electronic message boards, advance warning signs and barricades to assist travelers in this area.

Vanderbilt Drive between 91st Avenue North and 101st Avenue North -  On Vanderbilt Drive between 91st Avenue North and 101st Avenue North expect traffic to be reduced to ONE LANE ONLY beginning on Monday, May 22 and continuing for approximately three months from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews install new water mains and stormwater drains. 6th Street may be used as an alternate route for those that do not have destinations in the construction zone.  Advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.

Vanderbilt Drive between 111th Avenue North and Wiggins Pass Road – The Vanderbilt Drive Bridge Replacements Project has progressed to working on the second of two bridges. The Vanderbilt Drive road closure has moved to the vicinity of Bridge Number 030177, located 1.2 miles north of 111th Avenue, over Little Horse Pass Waterway between Anchorage Condos (12945 Vanderbilt Drive) and Marina Bay Club (13105 Vanderbilt Drive).  This closure includes ALL VEHICLES (INCLUDING BICYCLES) AND PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC (both northbound and southbound). A detour route is posted directing both vehicular and pedestrian traffic to use 111th Avenue, US 41 and Wiggins Pass Road during the needed construction.  Construction crews are in the process of removing the old bridge and will replace with a new bridge over the next year. Electronic message boards, advance warning signs and barricades are being used to assist travelers in this area. Law enforcement officers will also be on site, as needed.

White Boulevard between Weber Boulevard and 31st Street SW – On White Boulevard between Weber Boulevard and 31st Street SW (over the Cypress Canal) expect traffic to be stopped for a few minutes at a time over the next month as trucks enter and exit the roadway while crews construct a temporary bridge and access road for the White Boulevard Bridge Replacement Project.  This project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2018. Flagmen, advance warning signs, and barricades are being used to assist travelers in this area.

Wiggins Pass Road and Vanderbilt Drive Intersection – On Wiggins Pass Road at Vanderbilt Drive expect intermittent lane closures in all directions for approximately two weeks from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews continue maintenance on the traffic signal poles. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades are being used to assist travelers in this area.

WORK BY OTHERS:

Collier Boulevard between Rattlesnake Hammock Road and Naples Lakes Boulevard On Collier Boulevard between Rattlesnake Hammock Road and Naples Lakes Boulevard expect southbound traffic to be reduced from three lanes to one lane for approximately two months, OVERNIGHT from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting, as FPL crews replace power poles. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area

Naples Boulevard and Hollywood Boulevard Intersection – On Naples Boulevard expect left and right turn lane closures onto Hollywood Boulevard for approximately one month OVERNIGHT from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting, as crews working for a car dealership continue work to install a new sewer main. Drivers wanting to turn left or right at this intersection will be detoured to the next signalized intersection. In addition, Hollywood Drive is closed to all traffic. Advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.

Immokalee Road between Rock Road and Wilson Boulevard – On Immokalee Road between Rock Road and Wilson Boulevard expect westbound traffic to be reduced from three lanes to two lanes for approximately one week from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews place asphalt on new a new turn lane for a new school. Lighted arrow boards, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.
