The Urban Land Institute has delivered its final findings on Collier County housing affordability to the Community and Human Services Division.

To view the full report, visit http://www.colliergov.net/home/showdocument?id=73188.
The Collier County Board of County Commissioners contracted with the Urban Land Institute to address growing housing issues in Collier County, asking ULI to evaluate the County’s situation and make recommendations through an interdisciplinary Advisory Services Panel.

The Urban Land Institute is the nation’s premier nonprofit urban planning and real estate education and research institution, representing the entire spectrum of land use and development disciplines. The ULI program is a week-long exercise which includes substantial interaction with community stakeholders.

To read the briefing book the County prepared in advance of the ULI visit, including information on the housing issues, specific housing-related issues facing the community and key questions, please visit http://www.colliergov.net/home/showdocument?id=70823 (Please note that the file is large and may take some time to load).

The Panel’s week-long process culminated with a public presentation of the ULI’s review and preliminary recommendation. That presentation was held Friday, Feb. 3. On Friday, Feb. 24, the Board of County Commissioners held a workshop and provided direction to staff, the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee and o the Community Housing Plan Stakeholder Committee, to bring back more specific policies and options in the majority of the ULI recommendation areas.

The Community and Human Services Division will now use the final report information, along with input from the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, the Community Housing Plan Stakeholder Committee and the public, to help craft a Community Housing Plan. Staff expects to present this plan to the Board of County Commissioners at a meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 26.
