Additional Emergency Shelter Openings and Expanded Evacuation Zones
Additional General population shelters will open at 9 a.m. Saturday Sept. 9 at the following locations:
• Golden Gate Elementary Intermediate, 5055 20th Place SW, Naples, Florida 34116
• Golden Terrace Elementary Intermediate, 2965 44th Terrace SW, Naples, Florida 34116
• Golden Gate Middle, 2701 48th Terrace SW, Naples, Florida 34116
• Lake Trafford Elementary, 3500 Lake Trafford Road, Immokalee, Florida 34142
• Pinecrest Elementary, 313 S 9th Street, Immokalee, Florida 34142
Those who plan to use emergency shelters should take any necessary medications, cell phone chargers, toiletries, foods, water, flashlights, bedding and anything else they need to be comfortable.
Pet owners must bring their vaccination records, the appropriate size kennel for their animals, food and water for a minimum of three days, bowls and all supplies including waste bags and litter. When taking pets outside, they must remain leashed, and pet owners are responsible for picking up pet waste. There must be a family member or care taker of the pet present in the shelter always.
Expanded Evacuation Zones - The following areas are now included in the evacuation zones:
Northern boundary Pine Ridge from 41 to Airport -Pulling
Eastern boundary Airport from Pine Ridge to Radio Rd.
Northern boundary Radio from Airport to Santa Barbara
Eastern boundary Santa Barbara from Radio Rd. to Rattlesnake Rd.
(southwest through the preserve between St Andrews Blvd and Roma Way) to Texas
Eastern boundary Texas Ave to 41
The other area:
Western boundary Collier Blvd from 41 north to Winding Cypress Blvd
Northern boundary Winding Cypress Blvd from Collier Blvd to Verona Walk
Western boundary Verona Walk Cir from Winding Cypress Blvd to Sabal Palm
Northern boundary Sabal Palm east from Verona Walk
Northern boundary Encore Way from 41 to Colliers Reserve Dr
Eastern boundary Collier Reserve Dr to Immokalee
Southern boundary Immokalee from Collier Reserve to 41
These areas are in addition to the previously announced evacuation zones including Goodland, Everglades City, Chokoloskee, and areas west and south of U.S. 41. Hurricane Irma has the potential to induce dangerous and damaging storm surge in those areas. Residents of mobile homes throughout Collier County, especially those east of Collier Boulevard (S.R. and C.R. 951), are strongly advised to evacuate to a hardened structure or to an emergency shelter.
