Collier Mosquito Control District Announces Sept. 19 Treatment Missions

The Collier Mosquito Control District (the District) is flying two treatment missions on Tuesday, Sept. 19, after 10:30 p.m., by Skyvan airplane using Dibrom to target mosquitoes in the following areas:
• Ave Maria
• Immokalee
• The area from Immokalee Road south to Rattlesnake Hammock, and from Livingston Road east to Collier Blvd.

As well, the District’s Buffalo Turbine truck is continuing to distribute Bti larvicide throughout Immokalee to target mosquito larvae in the area’s standing water. The Environmental Protection Agency has concluded that Bti does not pose a risk to humans, but concerned residents may avoid the mist by going indoors when the truck drives by.

The District reminds residents:
• until electricity and cellular services are fully restored, not all residents may receive the District’s advance treatment notifications, and
• everyone should do their best to protect themselves from mosquitoes by using repellents containing DEET, picaridin or oil of lemon eucalyptus.

Mission announcements are posted at www.cmcd.org and in social media.
