FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

 ROAD ALERT UPDATE

This ROAD ALERT was prepared by the Collier County Growth Management Department to inform the community about scheduled road construction and road maintenance projects along major roadways in Collier County where lane closures are planned or traffic flow may be affected.

COLLIER COUNTY CONSTRUCTION/MAINTENANCE PROJECTS:

Golden Gate Boulevard East between 18th Street and 20th Street – On Golden Gate Boulevard East between 18th Street and 20th Street expect traffic both eastbound and westbound to be reduced to ONE LANE ONLY on Wednesday, Sept. 27 and on Thursday, Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, as crews pave existing travel lanes as construction progresses on the Golden Gate Boulevard Improvement Project. Flagmen, electronic message signs, advance warning signs and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.  This paving work is in preparation for the next traffic shift that is planned for Sunday night, Sept. 24 on Golden Gate Boulevard from east of Wilson Boulevard to west of 20th Street NE/SE. Crews plan to shift Golden Gate Boulevard traffic to a divided traffic pattern with eastbound traffic on one side of the media and westbound traffic on the other side of the median.  After the shift, one lane will be open for eastbound traffic and two lanes will be open for westbound traffic. Construction activities will still be ongoing after the traffic shift, so drivers are reminded to continue to use caution when traveling in this construction zone and to drive with care.  Residents need to be aware that traffic will be traveling on both sides of the new divided roadway and to use caution exiting and entering their driveways. Estimated completion for the entire project is expected near the end of 2017.  The speed limit has been reduced to 35 mph during construction and will remain in place until the project is completed.

Golden Gate Parkway and Livingston Road Intersection – On Golden Gate Parkway at Livingston Road expect the back portion of the eastbound right turn lane to be closed beginning on Monday,   Sept. 25 and continuing through Friday, Sept. 29 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting, as crews install streetlight poles. Drivers who want to make right turns will still be able to do so utilizing the remaining portion of the right turn lane.  Lighted arrow boards and barricades will be used to assist travelers in this area.
