Collier County's Housing & Human Services (HHS) Department includes a vast operation that addresses affordable housing issues within this community.
Housing & Human Services (HHS) is one of eight departments within the Public Services Division. HHS administers State and Federal funds.
We encourage developers to construct more affordable units for the citizens of Collier County. HHS is able to fast-track a project and increase the number of units allowed per acre, depending on the project's size, if the project will be affordable as classified and approved by the Board of County Commissioners.

Affordable housing strategies:
- Impact fee deferrals (for purchasers and developers including non-profits)
- Housing rehabilitation and emergency repair (for owners)
- Down payment / closing cost assistance (for buyers)
- Land acquisition with new construction (for developers including non-profits)
- Demolition and Clearance (for developers including non-profits)
- Special needs housing and pre-approved building plans (for developers including non-profits)
- Other eligible HUD activities (many stimulus plans will continue to develop)
These objectives are met by working collaboratively with non-profit groups, governmental agencies, and public/private coalitions to coordinate activities and effectively leverage the resources available to the entire county.
