Our mission is to provide to the Collier County Public Utilities Division customers an efficient, proactive, reliable service that exceeds expectations and meets the demand of our clientele. The Public Utilities Planning and Project Management Department manages utilities infrastructure projects and participates in County planning to ensure compliance requirements are in place in advance of the development of projects.
Through a cradle-to-grave emphasis on project management and an increased emphasis on quality improvement, the department is responsible for such diversified projects as water and wastewater systems and treatment facilities, and integrated solid waste programs and related initiatives. The capital improvement projects are based on the comprehensive master planning documents that identify present and future projects on the basis of the most current growth projections in order to meet the demand.
The Public Utilities Planning and Project Management Department is composed of three sections – project management, special projects, and quality assurance/technical support:
- Project Management provides for planning, designing, implementing and meeting the demand of the all-encompassing utility capital improvements as related to water, wastewater, and solid waste.
- Special Projects updates and maintains master plans, tracks capacity, analyzes trends, maintains present utility facilities such as pipeline and pump stations, reviews new development plants to ensure concurrency and master plan compliance, and is addressing the process of developing and maintaining a GIS system.
- Quality Assurance/Technical Support provides for contract administration, construction management and inspection services associated with capital improvements, optimization of assets and assures quality of planning, design and construction work, and assists the water and wastewater operations as well as planning, reviewing and implementing capital improvements related to electrical, telemetry and instrumentation.
