Collier County developed and adopted a Floodplain Management Plan (FMP) as part of the requirements for attaining a Class 7 rating in the Community Rating System. This FMP is reviewed by county staff and an annual progress report is given to the Board of County Commissioners. The major emphasis of the FMP is to identify efforts to make the community more resistant to flood damage, especially as regards properties with multiple claims on their flood insurance policies.
The FMP is included as Annex J within the county Local Mitigation Strategy (click here). The Local Mitigation Strategy is maintained by the Emergency Management Department. The Emergency Management Department updated the Local Mitigation Strategy in 2010.
