	Innovative Applications of HAZUS Wind Award Rick Zyvoloski Emergency Management Coordinator Collier County Emergency Manaement The Hazards U.S. Multi-Hazard (HAZUS-MH) is a nationally applicable standardized methodology that estimates potential losses from earthquakes, hurricane winds, and floods. HAZUS-MH was developed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under contract with the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS).

	2008 Thomas Yatabe Certificate of Outstanding Award Richard Zyvoloski Emergency Management Coordinator Collier County Emergency Management The State Emergency Response Commission (SERC) for Hazardous Materials selected Richard Zyvoloski, Emergency Management Coordinator, to receive the Thomas Yatabe Certificate of Outstanding Achievement. The award is in recognition of the implementation and support of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act.

Well Workplace Award	Wellness Councils of America's 2008 Platinum Well Workplace Award Collier County government’s Wellness Program earned the Wellness Councils of America’s (WELCOA) 2008 Platinum Well Workplace Award. Collier County government is the first county government agency to receive the Platinum Award.
FEPA Award	Florida Emergency Preparedness Association's 2008 Emergency Management Professional of the Year Bureau of Emergency Services Director Dan Summers, CEM, earned the 2008 Emergency Management Professional of the Year award for demonstrating exceptional leadership in the emergency management community over the past year.
FEPA Award	Florida Emergency Preparedness Association's 2008 Volunteer Award Emergency Management Department volunteer Frederick C. Edwards earned the 2008 Volunteer Award for volunteering more than 6,000 hours in emergency-management related activities geared toward protecting the lives and properties of county residents and visitors.

ESRI Award	ESRI 2007 Special Achievement in GIS Award Collier County Public Utilities Engineering Department was recognized for their unique Geographic Information System (GIS) facilities management program, which provides a single repository of information for service areas encompassing approximately 225 square miles and affecting more than 60,000 customers.
Crystal Awards	Florida Government Communicators Association (FGCA) 2007 Crystal Awards Around Your Community!, the county's bi-monthly electronic newsletter, earned second place in the Technology Services category.

iAEM Awards	International Association of Emergency Managers 2007 Presidential Citation Bureau of Emergency Services Director Dan Summers, CEM, earned the Presidential Citation for his outstanding contributions to the field of emergency management.
iAEM Awards	International Association of Emergency Managers 2007 Technology & Innovation Award The Collier County Emergency Management Department earned second place in the Local Emergency Management Division for its Web site redesign.
Pinnacle Awards	National Association of Government Webmasters 2007 Pinnacle Awards Collier County government’s redesigned Web site earned the 2007 Pinnacle Award, the top honor in its population group, at this year’s National Association of Government Webmasters Annual Conference in Valley Forge, Pa.
Certificate of Promising Practice	Council for Sustainable Florida 2007 Certificate of Promising Practice The Council for Sustainable Florida awarded a Certificate of Promising Practice to the Collier County Stormwater Management Department for the installation of a SolarBee – a solar powered pond circulating system. Collier County was the first government entity to install such a unit in Florida. The award recognizes the efforts of the Stormwater Management Department in improving water quality in a cost effective and innovative manner.
Telly Awards	Telly Awards 2007 The Naples, Marco Island, Everglades CVB won four bronze Telly Awards for its 30-second television commercials. Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions. This year's entries topped 13,000 from 50 states and five countries.
Technology Solutions Award	Public Technology Award 2007 Technology Solutions Award The Public Technology Institute awarded county staff members Jay Kim, Bert Miller, Jamie French, Lindsey Dagnall, Kenneth Kovensky, and Richard Zyvoloski, with a first place Technology Solutions Award for the development of a mobile, network-independent computer application that uses Geographical Information Systems Technology to aid inspectors collecting disaster damage data.
Top Restored Beaches Award	The American Shore & Beach Preservation Association 2007 Top Restored Beaches Award ASBPA selected Collier County Beaches as one of seven "Top Restored Beaches for 2007."
Hatfield Award	Water Environment Federation 2007 Hatfield Award Collier County Wastewater Department Manager Jon Pratt, North Wastewater Reclamation Facility, was recognized as the recipient of the 2007 Hatfield Award. The Hatfield Award is presented to operators of wastewater treatment plants for outstanding performance and professionalism. The award was established in honor of Dr. William D. Hatfield.

Savvy Awards	City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA) 2006 Savvy Awards The county earned the Silver Award for the *WWII Capture Living History* project in the category of Most Creative Activity With Least Dollars Spent award. In an effort to preserve the memories of our local World War II veterans so future generations can hear first hand the sacrifices made by the “Greatest Generation,” the Collier County Communication and Customer Relations Department developed an aggressive plan to identify and coordinate interviews with Collier County World War II veterans to record their war experiences on audiotape. Excellence Award	Department of Environmental Protection 2006 Plant Operations Excellence Awards The Water Department’s North County Regional Water Treatment Plant received the 2006 Plant Operations Excellence Award in recognition of outstanding drinking water treatment plant operations, maintenance, and compliance.
FNGLA Awards	Florida Nursery, Growers & Landscape Association (FNGLA) 2006 Landscape Awards The Collier County Department of Alternative Transportation Modes Landscape Section won an Award of Excellence for the Livingston Road Landscape Beautification and Irrigation Installation, in the Institutional/Government, New Installation Category. Golden Image Awards	Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) 2006 Golden Image Awards Domestic Animal Services and the Communication and Customer Relations Department were recognized with an Award of Distinction for their *Hope the Dog* awareness campaign. DAS rescued Hope after receiving an anonymous tip and launched a successful public relations campaign to save the dog and raise awareness about animal cruelty.

Excellence Award	Florida Water Environmental Association 2006 Municipal Utility Operational Performance Excellence Award The Wastewater Management Department earned the 2006 Municipal Utility Operational Performance Excellence Award. The FWEA presents a variety of awards that recognize achievement in the water environment profession. Awards are presented for service in education, innovative facility design, published papers, research, excellence in water quality improvement, outstanding personal service, distinctive advertising, service in the operations field, plant safety, and more.
Budget Awards Program	Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award Collier County Office of Management and Budget has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award each year for the past 20 years. This award, which is the highest award in governmental budgeting, is presented to those government units whose budgets are judged to adhere to program standards.
Adrian Awards	Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) 2006 Gold Adrian Award The county’s Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau won a Gold Adrian Award for Public Relations Feature Placement/Print – The New York Times. Collier County’s office of tourism is the official tourism industry support organization for Collier County, Florida. Operating as the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), the bureau represents the interests of the travel and tourism industry in Collier County, facilitating information about visiting the area and tracking economic impact of tourism visitation.

Special Mention	Library Journal Magazine's 2006 Best Small Library in America Special Mention Award The Immokalee Branch Library received a Special Mention as one of the top three Best Small Libraries in America. The award was created to encourage and showcase the exemplary work of libraries throughout the United States who serve populations under 25,000.
Achievement Award	National Association of Clean Water Agencies 2006 National Environmental Achievement Award The Wastewater Management Department received the 2006 National Environmental Achievement Award for Public Service.
Achievement Awards	National Association of Counties (NACo) 2006 Achievement Award NACo awarded Collier County with a 2006 Achievement Award for *Happy Tails.* Happy Tails is a 30-minute educational show that features available pets for adoption. Produced twice a month at the county’s Domestic Animal Services Department’s facility, this show serves as a great resource for responsible pet ownership. Expert animal handlers offer informative tips regarding pet-related issues such as how to maintain a healthy diet, where to locate veterinarians that offer spay and neuter, as well as how to pre-register your pet in the event of a hurricane. Davis Productivity Awards	Prudential Financial 2006 Davis Productivity Awards The Health Department earned the prestigious Davis Productivity Award for a computerized health and crisis communication program called “Self-Triage.” The Davis Productivity Awards recognize and reward state government employees whose work significantly and measurably increases productivity and promotes innovation to improve the delivery of state services and save money for Florida taxpayers and businesses.

The county purchased 11 trailers, fully equipped with back up generators, special needs and regular cots, sleeping mats, blankets, linen, stand up air coolers, fans, and many more essential equipment and supplies for deployment purposes during a natural disaster.

NATOA Awards	National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) 2005 Awards *Collier 2004* earned an Honorable Mention in the News Series Category. This program, renamed *Collier TV,* is design to report on Collier County government news. This program is produced twice a month with each episode debuting the Monday following a Board of County Commissioners meeting. This program accurately reflects the decisions of the board and also features stories on a wide range of county news - from what’s going on in county parks, to meeting notices, to park openings and road dedications to special interviews with state and federal lawmakers. StormReady	National Weather Service (NWS) StormReady Community 2005 Collier County was re-designated a StormReady Community in 2005. The StormReady Community program established by the NWS encourages communities to take a new, proactive approach to improving local hazardous weather operations by providing emergency managers with clear-cut guidelines on how to improve their hazardous weather operations.

Reader's Choice	ConventionSouth Reader’s Choice Awards 2004 The CVB won a Readers’ Choice Award for The Best of the Best Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Golden Image Awards	Florida Public Relations Associations 2004 Award of Distinction The Library Department earned the 2004 Award of Distinction for their *Love My Library* campaign. The Love My Library campaign was developed as a means to help offset budget cuts in 2002. The object of the Love My Library campaign was twofold, 1) To heighten awareness of the library’s need, and 2) to encourage county residents to donate the equivalent cost of a book to the library. No county funds were available to cover campaign expenses; however, this successful PR campaign was able to generate a total of $15,000 in individual cash contributions, along with nearly $6,500 in corporate sponsorship money and over $25,000 in corporate in-kind sponsorships.

Helen K. Fallert Award	National Association of Area Agencies on Aging 2004 Helen K. Fallert Award The Human Services Department’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program received the Helen K. Fallert Award for their outstanding service to the senior community of Collier County.
Achievement Awards	National Association of Counties Achievement Award The Parks and Recreation Department’s *Park Rangers To Go* program earned an Achievement Award for its interactive approach to educate the public about natural history. *Park Rangers To Go* is a benchmark program, which includes textbooks and materials for school children as well as an interactive learning experience for adults. The outreach program also includes assisted living facilities and individuals with special needs, such as Alzheimer patients.
Healthy Beaches	National Healthy Beaches 2004 Campaign Collier County’s Barefoot Beach Preserve and Clam Pass Park were recognized as Healthy Beaches. The campaign evaluated the beaches using stringent criteria including water quality standards, cleanliness and environmental quality. The National Healthy Beaches Campaign is the first scientifically based beach certification program administered by a professional group of coastal experts focused on U.S. beaches. Collier county beaches joined the campaign in 2004 and staff committed to keep the highest beach management standards, to assure beachgoers of their ongoing quality.
