The award recognizes the efforts of the Stormwater Management Department in improving water quality in a cost effective and innovative manner. |

Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions. This year's entries topped 13,000 from 50 states and five countries.

Florida Public Relations Associations 2004 Award of Distinction The Library Department earned the 2004 Award of Distinction for their Love My Library campaign. The Love My Library campaign was developed as a means to help offset budget cuts in 2002. The object of the Love My Library campaign was twofold, 1) To heighten awareness of the library’s need, and 2) to encourage county residents to donate the equivalent cost of a book to the library. No county funds were available to cover campaign expenses; however, this successful PR campaign was able to generate a total of $15,000 in individual cash contributions, along with nearly $6,500 in corporate sponsorship money and over $25,000 in corporate in-kind sponsorships. |

The outreach program also includes assisted living facilities and individuals with special needs, such as Alzheimer patients. |

National Healthy Beaches 2004 Campaign Collier County’s Barefoot Beach Preserve and Clam Pass Park were recognized as Healthy Beaches. The campaign evaluated the beaches using stringent criteria including water quality standards, cleanliness and environmental quality. The National Healthy Beaches Campaign is the first scientifically based beach certification program administered by a professional group of coastal experts focused on U.S. beaches. Collier county beaches joined the campaign in 2004 and staff committed to keep the highest beach management standards, to assure beachgoers of their ongoing quality. |
