2. A Park with a Message About American Freedom
Freedom park is located at the corner of Goodlette-Frank Road and Golden Gate Parkway in the City of Naples.
This new park is unique like no other. It was paid for by grant funds to help with storm water runoff by using lakes to naturally filter the water.
 Freedom Park
Around these lakes, the Public Utilities Division and Public Services Division built a green park using native plants.
The park includes a gorgeous wooden, half mile boardwalk built over a natural wetland.
The boardwalk takes visitors from the park's educational facility down to the Gordon River Basin, where you can view Otters frolicking in their natural habitat.
Freedom Park is named after a main attraction of the park, the Freedom Memorial. The memorial is in the process of being constructed by way of public donations, and is a tribute to the many lives lost on 9-11 and the heros of past and present wars. The memorial will include a waved flag set over concrete replicas of each state with dedication bricks surrounding it. A dedication brick may be purchased.
A replica of the upcoming memorial will be available inside the education facility at Freedom Park soon. To make a donation to assist with building the Freedom Memorial, visit www.collierremembers.org.
Parks & Recreation also hosts this market in the park in partnership with The Growing Connection. Vendors sell produce, sauces, homemade breads and pastries, soaps, candles and more! |
