Benefits Employee Receives Eligibility

Holidays
Top

Employees receive 11 paid holidays as follows:

  • New Year’s Day,
  • Martin Luther King Day,
  • President’s Day,
  • Memorial Day,
  • Independence Day,
  • Labor Day,
  • Veteran’s Day,
  • Thanksgiving Day and Friday after Thanksgiving,
  • Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

  • Beginning of the first through end of second year, 2 weeks
    (3.08 hrs/pay period).
  • Beginning of third through end of sixth year, 3 weeks
    (4.62 hrs/pay period).
  • Beginning of seventh year through end of 20th year, 4 weeks
    (6.15 hrs/pay period).
  • Beginning of 21st year, 5 weeks (7.69 hrs/pay period).

Personal Leave

Two days per calendar year.

Sick Leave
Top

Employee is eligible to receive 12 paid sick days per year
accrued at 3.69 hours per pay period.

Tuition Reimbursement
Top

100% reimbursement of tuition expenses at the state rate,
up to a maximum of six (6) credit hours per semester.
Must be part of an approved degree program, related to current job,
and student must receive passing grades.

Immediately after 6 months ofemployment

Attendance Incentive Program
Top

First three unused sick leave days may be converted to vacation.
Eligible for incentive if less than 2 days of sick leave are used.

12 months as of 12/31.

Health Insurance
Top

Qualifiers must be met to be enrolled in either the Select or Premium plan. No Qualifiers for the Basic plan. Rates for single and family coverage are tiered based on earnings.

1st of month following date ofemployment.

Flexible Benefits
Top

The County offers a Flexible Benefit Plan consisting of the following benefits:
Health, Dental, Supplemental Life & Accident, Short Term and Long Term Disability.
These benefits may be purchased by employees on a pre-tax basis.

FREE policy equal to approximately two times annual salary.

Supplemental Insurance
Top

Employee may purchase additional life and accidental death insurance
through lower group rates.

Short & Long Term Disability Insurance
Top

Free Short and Long Term Disability insurance equal to 40% of monthly salary.

1st of month following date ofemployment

Retirement
Top

Retirement paid 100% by the County through the State of Florida Retirement
System (FRS). Benefits are payable at age 62 and with a minimum of
6 years of vested service.FRS Investment Plan also available as an option.

6 years service

Deferred Compensation
Top

Tax deferred savings plan available for retirement purposes.
Employee contributes own earnings towards plan, with partial matching available
at certain earning levels.
