Q: Should I make an appointment for Collier County Social Services?
A:

Yes, appointment allow for quick service and are preferred. Office hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Make an appointment by calling (239) 252-8154.

Q: My elderly parent/friend is no longer capable of living alone. What are some of the housing options and how do I find them?
A:

The Assisted Living Medicaid Waiver provides additional services (room and board is not included) to allow persons who would otherwise need nursing home care to remain in an Extended Congregate Care (ECC) or Limited Nursing Services (LNS) Assisted Living Facility (ALF).

 

Q: My elderly parent/friend is beginning to have difficulty with everyday chores and tasks at home. What are some program options to assist seniors who live at home?
A:

Assistance with bathing and personal care, respite for the caregiver, housekeeping, limited medical supplies, adult day care, and emergency alert response system. The case manager also links clients with other community services such as Medicaid, food stamps, SSI, Community Health and Human Services, housing repair, energy assistance and emergency food.

 

Q: What are the requirements for receiving services from Collier County Services for Seniors?
A:

Our first commitment is to the frail elderly; those who without in-home help are at risk of nursing home placement. Caregivers seeking relief from the stress and demands associated with daily care of an elderly relative are eligible to receive services. Community Care for the Elderly is mandated by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs to accept all referrals from the Florida Department of Children and Families Adult Protective Services and from the Florida Department of Elder Affairs CARES (Comprehensive Assessment and Review of Long Term Care Services) Program.

 

Q: How are services funded for Collier County Services for Seniors?
A:

Funding is made available through Senior Solutions Area Agency on Aging, State of Florida Department of Elder Affairs, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners and client contributions.

 

Q: Can you provide assistance with burial or cremation?
A:

Yes, we do provide assistance to qualified individuals who expire within the confines of Collier County and have no other resources to pay for burial or cremation arrangements.

 

Q: Can you assist me with my rent/mortgage payment?
A:

We can provide short-term assistance to individuals with no income, who are disabled and where eviction is eminent.

 

Q: Can you provide me with food stamps?
A:

No, we do not assist with food stamps. We can however, give you the phone number and address of the appropriate agency.

 

Q: Do you provide any sort of cash assistance?
A:

We do not provide cash assistance. However, we are able to provide you with the phone number and address of the appropriate agency.

 

Q: Do you help with prescriptions?
A:

If a client qualifies for the prescription program and has new or refill prescriptions (not all prescriptions will be honored) then we will assist with the cost of those prescriptions.
