Library Construction Projects

Collier County Public Library addressed the growing expectation of county residents for quality library services by pursuing library building construction projects in the last several years.

  1. A new Golden Gate branch library building replacing the original building culminated in the July 12, 2008, grand opening.
  2. The new South Regional Library located on Lely Cultural Parkway, opened May 15, 2009.
  3. Construction of Rose Hall, an addition to the Marco Island branch library, entirely funded by private resources.

The only current construction project is the Marco Island branch Rose Hall addition.

Project Summary
A 4,000 square foot meeting hall is planned as an addition to Marco Island Branch Library. It will be located on the north side of the building in an area that currently provides parking. As you enter the building, the Rose Hall addition will be to the right. Replacement parking will be located in the existing lot across Mistletoe Court.

Project Name
Marco Island residents Bill and Myrtle Rose have donated $500,000 to this construction project, in return for naming the community meeting room "Rose Hall."

Project Funds

The Marco Island chapter of the Firends of the Library was pleased to announce that the funding goal was met upon completion of its SmartCar 2009 raffle in March 2009. See details in the Marco Island Eagle story. Groundbreaking for Rose Hall is scheduled April 30, 2009.
