With all the recent tragedies and anthrax scares, people have been looking for ways to help and volunteer. This is a great way for you to learn how to take care of yourself, your family and your neighbors in the event of an emergency. C.E.R. T. is a group of concerned citizens that is organized and receives seven weeks of training that enhances their ability to recognize, respond to, and recover from a major emergency or disaster. Previous emergency experience is not required. The seven-week course is free with all books and materials provided.
The North Naples, Golden Gate, Isle of Capri, Immokalee, Marco Island, Ochopee, Big Corkscrew, City of Naples and East Naples Fire Departments all have Community Emergency Response Teams. For more information please contact the following CERT Coordinators.

Community Emergency Response Teams are being developed across the country and overseas in hopes of preparing the general public to help themselves, their families, their neighbors and their community before, during and after an emergency or disaster.
Multidisciplined training teams are available to provide comprehensive certified 21 hour FEMA training to volunteers in the techniques that may save lives, money, and heartache. For more information, contact your local Emergency Management office.
Several Southern Florida trainers have completed their training, and several local teams are already in place, including Marco Island, Ochopee, Big Corkscrew, East Naples, Isles of Capri and North Naples. Active teams are already at work in Orange, Broward, and Seminole Counties. Additional Collier County CERT training will be available soon.
