David S. Wilkison, P.E.
After a career of over 30 years as an engineering consultant in southwest Florida, David joined the Growth Management Department (GMD) as department head in July 2015. David is a fourth generation Floridian who grew up in Collier County and believes growth should be responsible, thoughtful, and well-planned.
David oversees a department that has 10 operating divisions, including Transportation Engineering, Road Maintenance, Development Review, and Code Enforcement. GMD has an annual operating budget of more than $100 million and a full-time workforce of approximately 500 employees.
Prior to joining Collier County Government, for five years David was a principal with Stantec, a consulting engineering company with 250 office locations worldwide. He was previously principal and vice president of WilsonMiller from 2002 to 2010 before they were acquired by Stantec. Before that, he owned Wilkison & Associates, Inc., a Naples engineering, planning, and surveying firm that was acquired by WilsonMiller.
A 1982 University of Florida graduate with a bachelor's degree in engineering, David served as a member of the Collier County Productivity Committee, the Collier County Environmental Advisory Board, and the Florida Engineering Society, and as a board member on the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce and on the board of directors at the Immokalee Friendship House.
