Pursuant to Florida State Statue and the Collier County Ordinance, any person, firm, partnership, corporation or other legal entity who engages in any construction contracting business, or advertises or represents himself/herself as such, must have a county contractor license/certificate of competency or be a state-certified contractor. IT IS UNLAWFUL TO CONTRACT WITHOUT A CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY!
All contractors (except state certified) must take an exam(s) to obtain a local county contractor license. The sponsorship application fee is $130.00 per exam.
After the exam(s) is taken and passed, you may submit an application to apply for the license(s). All county licenses EXPIRE ON SEPTEMBER 30TH EVERY YEAR! All renewals will be mailed on or about the middle of August of every year.
To obtain a Maintenance License "Handyman", please contact the Business Tax Office (Occupational) at 239-252-2477. All State-Certified contractors may complete the voluntary registration form and submit a $45.00 fee. After registering, the license/registration will need to be renewed thereafter to remain "Active" and able to pull permits or call in inspections within Collier County. State license renewals are based on the expiration date indicated on the state license.
