Collier County Ordinance 99-51, Section 7, states that trash and recycling must be placed curbside before 6:00 a.m. the day of collection. You may set your trash and recycling curbside after 6:00 p.m. the night before your collection day. Your trash and recycling carts must be removed from the curbside no later than 6:00 p.m. the day of collection. There is no set time for pickup, only set days. During the holidays and peak season, collection may be later or earlier than normal. Placing trash and recycling carts curbside before 6:00 p.m. the day before collection and /or failure to remove the carts from the curbside by 6:00 p.m. the day of collection may result in fine.
What are controlled substances?
Controlled substances are generally a drug or chimical whose manufacture, possession, or use is regulated by a governement agency. This may include illegal drugs and prescription medications. Is residential recycling mandatory in Collier County?
No. Residential recycling is not mandatory. The cost of recycling services is included in the annual solid waste assessment included on the non-ad valorem portion of your property tax bill. So, although residential recycling is not mandatory, you do pay for the service. Recycling is mandatory for businesses, multi-family complexes, temporary events and venue facilities in Collier County. What do I do with cardboard boxes?
Corrugated cardboard can be broken down to fit into your recycling cart. Make sure it does not block other recyclables from coming out as the cart is emptied. Large cardboard may be flattened and cut down to no larger than 3 feet by 3 feet, and placed next to your recycling cart on your collection day. If you choose not to break down large cardboard boxes, you must call to schedule a bulky item collection. Please do not place Styrofoam, Styrofoam packing peanuts, or bubble wrap in your recycling cart. Packing peanuts and clean bubble wrap can be reused. Most privately owned shipping, mailing and packaging businesses will accept them for reuse.

You may take large amounts of cardboard to any county operated recycling drop-off center. There is no charge for recycling large amounts of cardboard. Remember that cardboard boxes can be reused.

Do not throw unwanted residential pharmaceuticals into toilets or storm drains, or place residential syringes and needles in your trash and recycling carts as they can pollute the water supply or fall into the wrong hands. Collier County residents may bring unwanted medication (excluding controlled substances), and syringes and needles used as a part of daily health maintenance in the home to any county-operated recycling drop-off center for proper disposal. How do I set out my yard waste?
Yard waste is collected on the same day as recycling. Do not place yard waste into your trash cart. Yard waste must be properly prepared for collection. Prepare yard waste as follows:
Place yard waste in paper bags. Do not use plastic bags. Yard waste in plastic bags will not be collected.
Place yard waste in trash cans no larger than 32 gallons and not weighing more than 50 lbs. when filled.
Tie yard waste in bundles no longer than 4 feet with branches no thicker than 4 inches in diameter.
Yard waste is limited to 10 bags, bundles, or cans per week.
If I move out of my home, what do I do with the trash or recycling carts?
Please note, the trash or recycle cart is assigned to the home, not to the homeowner. If you move, please leave the trash and recycle cart(s).
Can I get a second recycling cart and how much will it cost?
If you need a second recycling cart, please call customer service at (239) 252-2380 (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). The second recycling cart is provided free by the county, subsequent recycle carts as with a second trash cart are charged as per the rate resolution.
